WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
This is a way for you to do a Triathlon, inside, in the month of February and get yourself in shape before spring.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Stop by the Fitness Desk and ask for a training log. You’re on your own honor to complete the “course”.
WHAT IS A “COURSE”?
You have two choices. The first is a half Triathlon: 1.25 mile swim, 55.9 mile bike and 13 mile run.
The second option is the Iron Man Triathlon. 2.5 mile swim, 111.8 mile bike and 26.1 mile run.
All of these distances can easily be recorded on our equipment, except you’ll have to count your laps in the pool.
HOW MANY LAPS IN THE POOL IS A MILE?
Swimming back and forth is one lap. 36 laps will equal 1 mile.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST ME AND WHAT CAN I WIN?
The cost is cheap. It’s free. What you can win is better health, recognition in the paper and possibly a longer life. In other words, there are no material prizes.
WHEN CAN I START?
Your training can start now, but training logs will not be available until February 1, 2010.
RULES:
- Must be a “Certified” Couch Potato.
- Must use honesty in recording your progress. You’ll only be cheating yourself if you don’t.
- If you can’t swim, water walking or the use of a kickboard will suffice for swimming, but you will still need to do all of the laps.
- Consult with your physician prior to starting.
- Use of stationary bikes, treadmills, ellipticals and pool in KRC only.
- Stay within your fitness range.
- Pace yourself.
- HAVE FUN!
