In the last few days, the city has experienced multiple, widespread outages. City staff has determined that there is an intermittent fault condition occurring in a piece of equipment located at the Northside Substation on Route 40/143. Any fault that occurs at this substation has the potential to trigger outages on circuits 203, 205, 206 and 207.
The electric department will be doing switching operations this morning that will allow us to isolate Northside Substation. We will then have an outside contractor on-site to examine, and repair or replace the suspect equipment.
We do not anticipate any outages due to the switching nor to the equipment repair. We do ask that customers make an effort to minimize their electricity usage during the course of repairs.
